The Promise Is Bigger | Summit Kids
Have you ever been part of a game or event where you unexpectedly realized everyone in the room was actually on the exact same team? It’s a wonderful feeling to discover you belong!
This Sunday, Summit Kids found identical keepsake bracelets under classroom cushions. When the kids found them, they realized that despite their differences, every single one of them had received the exact same bracelet.
In Week 6 of Galatians, we explored Galatians 3:15–29, where Paul explains that through Jesus, we are all welcomed into God's family as full heirs.
What We Taught: I Don't Earn Family; I Belong
Paul shared a massive truth with the church: God's promise to Abraham wasn't earned by keeping rules—it was given freely through faith in Jesus.
Here is what we wanted every child to hear loud and clear:
You Are an Heir: Being an heir means you didn't build or earn the inheritance yourself—it was given to you simply because of whose family you belong to.
No Second-Class Citizens: Because of Jesus, people from every background, culture, and story belong in God's family equally.
Unshakeable Identity: You don't have to perform or prove yourself to belong in God's household.
Memory Phrase: "I don't earn family. I belong."
Interactive Learning: The Family Tree
Our classes created a giant wall mural labeled "ONE FAMILY IN CHRIST". Every child decorated a leaf with their name and added it to the tree alongside their leaders. This mural will stay up in our ministry area for the rest of the fall as a visual reminder that we are united in Jesus.
3 Ways to Bring the Lesson Home
Speak Identity Over Your Child: Say this declaration WITH your child this week: "Because of Jesus, I am a child of God. I belong. I am an heir of His promise".
Reinforce Family Belonging: Connect spiritual belonging to your home life: "Just like you belong in God's family through Jesus, you belong in our family too. You never have to earn our love".
Keep the Token Visible: Have your child attach their "I BELONG" token to their school backpack or zipper as a daily reminder of their identity.
