May 8 – The Birds Know

Scripture: Matthew 6:26

Reflection: Birds don’t store up food for weeks. They live one day at a time, trusting that provision will come. Jesus invites us to live with this kind of simplicity and faith. When we rest, we declare, "I trust You, God, to take care of tomorrow."

Rest Prompt: Write down one burden you're holding. Pray and release it to God today.

Prayer: Father, help me trust your daily provision. Let my rest speak louder than my worry.

May 9 – A Quiet Confidence

Scripture: Isaiah 30:15

Reflection: God tells His people that their salvation is in returning and rest. Their strength? In quietness and trust. But often we run instead of return. Strength isn’t found in more doing but in trusting. God blesses the woman who finds rest in Him.

Rest Prompt: Choose one hour today to unplug. Let it be a sacred hour of stillness.

Prayer: Lord, I return to you now. May my quietness be filled with your presence and strength.

May 10 – Cease Striving

Scripture: Psalm 46:10

Reflection: "Be still and know that I am God." Stillness creates space to know. Knowing requires attention. When we stop striving, we open our hearts to deeper awareness of God’s presence and power. Stillness isn't empty—it’s full of God.

Rest Prompt: Repeat Psalm 46:10 out loud slowly three times. Let each word sink in.

Prayer: God, I release my hurry. Help me to be still and recognize you are enough.

May 11 – You Are Not Forgotten

Scripture: Isaiah 49:15-16

Reflection: Even a nursing mother may forget her child, but God will not forget you. He has engraved you on the palms of His hands. When you rest, you are not falling behind—you are falling into His care.

Rest Prompt: Light a candle and sit for five minutes in silence. Let it represent God’s loving attention toward you.

Prayer: Loving God, thank you for holding me so close. Let me rest in your attention, not in performance.

May 12 – Not by Bread Alone

Scripture: Deuteronomy 8:3

Reflection: God humbled His people in the wilderness to teach them that physical provision is not enough—we need His Word to truly live. Sabbath rest includes soul nourishment. Reading His Word isn’t another task—it’s a feast.

Rest Prompt: Read a favorite passage of Scripture slowly. Let it speak to your soul.

Prayer: God, feed me with your Word. May it satisfy me more than anything else.

May 13 – Let It Fall

Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:1-6

Reflection: There is a time to keep and a time to throw away. What would it look like to let something go? Part of rest is release. We can let go of what no longer serves our soul and trust God with the seasons.

Rest Prompt: Choose one thing—a task, a plan, or even a physical item—to let go of today.

Prayer: God of every season, help me trust you with what needs to be released. Make space in me for rest.

May 14 – Your Cup Overflows

Scripture: Psalm 23:1-3,5

Reflection: He makes me lie down in green pastures. He restores my soul. Sabbath is a table prepared for you. It is not just about what you stop doing—it’s about what you receive: goodness, mercy, and rest.

Rest Prompt: Do something nourishing today: a walk, a meal, a nap, or laughter with a friend.

Prayer: Shepherd God, thank you for restoring my soul. Help me receive the overflow of your goodness.
